Review of Delhi Belly

Before starting my take on the movie, let me put it very straight that this movie is going to be a big hit among college students and the pan-asian audiences [especially males those who understand bit of english].

Well, Delhi Belly made me think about two simple things- What is the limit of 'creative freedom' and what is the level of censorship in our country? Delhi Belly is a kinda soft porn masala movie with lots of abusing [physical as well as verbal].

I simply can't understand how come censor board passed the scenes like where Nitin presses the b**bs of that prostitute and the scene where Menka and Tashi are shown having hardcore sex in the hotel room and the very next moment the visuals are so depicted that it looks that Tashi is sexually aroused and also where it is shown that Tashi is licking Sonia's C**t.

Come on man! You can't always escape and take the hid of 'creative freedom' and bull-shit like 'movies are the reflection of society'. Okay, accepted that movies are reflection of society. But, one never performs sex in public. Its always in closet and I strongly believe that it should not be brought out of the confines of a bed-room.

Also, the censor board has to understand one thing that even though it an 'THE Aamir Khan Production' movie, still it needs to be "atleast reviewed". Tell me a single frame where they haven't used either sex or cuss words.

I'm not some orthodox fellow writing all this. I too love new concepts. But, this time there was nothing new. But there is this saying in a popular TV show 'Ammaji ki galli' these day that 'har cheez mein good hota hai ji'. Going by that, the only good that I derived out of this movie is the learning that these days one can get his/her film cleared off the Censor's scissor if you've a backing of some KHAN and you can show whatever you like.

And to be very true, being an ardent music lover, I feel the album of DB is rocking except the song 'Saigal Blues' where they've taken a dig at someone as great as K.L. Saigal. Ram Sampath did awesome job otherwise. The songs are really catchy and are ruling the charts all-over.

For story, it looks like a pseudo-clone of "Kaminey" except here drugs are replaced with diamonds. Truly, there was nothing new. A waste of talent like Vijay Raaj and beauty like Shehnaz Treasury. And for Imran Khan. Well, he will need 100 more years to atleast reach the acting heights of someone like Amitabh Bachchan who is giving him a tough competition at the BO this week.

For Vijay Raaj, I can say that after all he is also a human being. He too has got a belly and a fire in it. The fire of 'hunger' which I think is the biggest sin in this world. And for that he did this particular movie. In other words, just for financial sake.

And as far as Amitabh Bachchan is concerned, the cast and crew of DB must learn from him the 'self-censorship' for the way he himself used the word 'beep' in BHTP. One can easily understand what he wants to say even though he only utters 'beep'. That's where genius thing lies. Showing what you want but still being in the limits.

Guys, learn from this dialogue of BigB from BHTP- "Jab bhi mujhe gaali dena hota hai toh main beep bol deta hoon, isse do cheezein hoti hain, ek toh meri zabaan saaf rehti hai aur do saamney waale ki izzat ki beep lag jaati hai"

Everyone of us understood what he meant by "saamney waale ki izzat ki BEEP lag jaati hai".

By the way, one should not compare BHTP and DB as the target-audiences of both the films are different. I just used the example of BigB for a simple reason of the way our Indian films these days are deteriorating in terms of 'quality'. Even couple of weeks back, Bhindi Baazaar tanked at the BO. Though I sincerely loved the negative energy of the film, but I coudn't stand the cussing.

Also, I thought that the length of the movie could have been still shorter if that pathetic song of Aamir was removed. It sounds more nice on MTv. But, may be they thought that Aamir's charisma will attract more eye-balls.

And as the tag-line of the movie goes, I would conclude my article saying- Watching this movie one can easily say that 'S#!T HAPPENS' even if it is a case of cinema.

1* out of 5* [and that too just for the music].
