Rukmaabai Manganiyar passed away. :(

Guys, just read a news that Rukmabaai Manganiyar, a life in music, passed away yesterday at her native village Ramsar, Barmer, Rajasthan. I was really shocked to hear this because I just happened to see her performance back in last November and that time she was absolutely fine. May her soul RIP!.

The most unfortunate part is that she died in poverty as per reports. Coke Studio MTv are you listening? So many folk artists like her never get their dues. Bollywood Music Directors copy their songs and take so much credit.

Her only commercial work till date remains her work with Shubha Mudgal in the album Mann Ke Manjeere. Here I'm going to present a link to her rendition of Kesariya Baalam from the same album. Kesariya Baalam is a folk-song of Rajasthan which has been performed in multiple ways by varied artists. But, Rukmaabai's rendition touched me deep because one can easily sense the long wait and the happiness there after. Though the quality of the audio is not so great but still it's ok. We are not here to judge her as her talent needs no testimonial.

Here is a link to her version of Kesariya Baalam. Listen it to believe me.

Also, here is a link to a documentary on her. It starts with my all time favourite Mhaari Ghoomar Hai Nakhraalli Re Maa-
